Keeping the Baby
January 04, 2016

At this New Year Resolutions time of year, what we will find is that it is impossible to throw the baby out with the bathwater – however hard we try. Yes we may want to make changes in how we live our life – to get rid of bad habits and addictions and reinstate at least some of those perennial good intentions. But we cannot change who we are and there will so much that we each have that is well worth preserving and even nurturing and enhancing.

So I am giving you permission to keep the baby – the essence of who you are. And don’t even try to throw it out, however dirty and cold is the bathwater.

by Sophia Yasmeen

    - The poetry of everyday life that makes me feel alive
    - The inter mesh of love and light and sorrow,
    - of fear and joy, of life and death
    - of failure and success, of beauty and gratitude,
    - of receiving and giving, of tranquility - - of service to peace and healing
    - like the tiny waves of the ocean, the poetry of my life break around my ankles.
    - I stop and marvel at the beauty of the ocean
-In the gaze of the departed sun therein lies an ocean of sorrow
    - But leaving its smile to the grass and make room for a beautiful new dawn
    - Wake up each day loving the poetry of life as it comes, and life loves me back
