The Dog that did not bark
March 07, 2016

I remember a famous Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes story – the Hound of the Baskervilles. At one point, our world famous sleuth remarked that the dog had not barked. And why was that – because the interloper was known to the dog.

So much of what makes up the web and weave of our life is barely if at all noticed and this is especially so for all that did not happen – the not happening of which we neither notice nor ever acknowledge.

Think about that for a moment. What did not happen yesterday, which might well have and was it a blessing that it did not?

The point of power is always in the present. Past is history, so let it go. The future is a fantasy, so let it come. The present is a gift. Surrender to the present moment, where problems do not exist. It is here we find our joy, are able to be fully present and take each step in the NOW we will be opening ourselves to the transforming experience of ‘the power of now’. This is the work of someone who wants to awaken and break from the burdens of yesterday and speculative tomorrow. There is only now-everything else is avoidance.

Sophia is a beautiful writer and I am happily sharing her work in my Feelbetter Newsletter.
