How subversive are You?
October 17, 2016

In Jonathon Haidt’s marvelous book The Righteous Mind he identifies the six moral foundations which are at the heart of all of us, at least to some degree. And these six combine to form the unconscious attitudes that animate each of us, to form our sense of morality. Now one of these six intuitions is the authority/subversion trade off.

You can see what Haidt is getting at here. On one level he is challenging the modern notions of equality and fairness. And on another level, he could be asking all of us to consider to whom and to what we might be willing or happy to submit and to whom and what we each might look to resist and subvert? My feeling is and certainly that is the case when I look at myself, that we all combine being submitters and resisters – and it all depends on to whom and to what.

More next week.

It is not the society or religion or obsessive patriotism (which is a mental disorder), or war that can give us real power. When do we ever realise that there is only one facilitator in all creation and that is our thoughts. There is one great force and that force is the Universal conscious mind or God. I am a part of this great loving force that creates for me exactly what I think. By having control over my thoughts not only I can find answers to my problem but also can create in my experience exactly what I desire. Meditation in everyday life can reward us with greater hope and promise that we ever dreamed of. Let us all turn this day into a majestic one where only the fountain of goodness overflows our minds, thoughts and hearts.

Sophia is a beautiful writer and I am happily sharing her work in my Feelbetter Newsletter.
