Accepting randomness
August 18, 2014

This means having the wisdom to realise that sometimes events just happen. Or if you like – that there may be a cause or reason for something, but you will never know it. To be happy to say to yourself and anybody who might be listening “that perhaps we will never know”.

It is a hard thing to do, as we are increasingly led to believe that everything can be known and explained and so tied down. To accept randomness has another consequence. It is to accept that no-one can be found to blame, that there are no conspiracies or culpability.

best wishes
