A Values Exercise
October 20, 2014

I have been pondering values over the past few days – not just my values but more generally. Afterall we all have them. The question is: what part can a clear understanding of our values play in our emotional wellbeing?

I realised that this was a question that I had not really ever considered – the reason being that my focus is invariably on our emotions and emotional responses. But this has been remiss of me, if only because when our values are either confirmed or challenged, we will respond emotionally to it.

I have therefore understood something which is pretty obvious – which is that if we ponder the values we hold to be important and reaffirm them to ourselves, then this can be a powerful exercise in building our sense of self and purpose … and be very good for us.

Try it!

best wishes
