Looking in and looking out
March 24, 2014

Most of us would say that creativity was a very different thing to problem solving. All of us have written stories or drawn pictures or created objects (such as jewellery or decoration) that have arisen largely from within. But on the other hand, we have to deal with what life throws at us – finding solutions or accommodations and so on.

Is this distinction quite so clear cut as it seems. Well no.

Thus, we are faced with situations and dilemmas and frustrations and opportunities and surprises every day. And these all ask something of us. And our response can either be automatic and unconscious or can require something more and that will always be creative. We will be developing something new, unique even and by doing this, we will be making use of the genius of being human.

All of our problem solving is looking out and is necessarily creative. And when we are looking in, what really is going on there? I will leave that until next week.

best wishes
