Where is our sense of Duty?
November 24, 2014

Duty is a lovely old fashioned word – yet it is modern too. Or should I say that it reflects something universal and timeless – that has to reside in all of us for us to function well, both individually and collectively.

Is it not duty that is the bedrock that binds us to the group – whether it is to our family, or our community or our nation or indeed wider than that? It is our sense of duty that takes us out of ourselves, reminds us of both our responsibility to and dependence on something beyond ourselves. And by doing this, it will be a source of essential nourishment.

best wishes
