Satisficing for Fun
August 06, 2017
Hello,

Here are three definitions of satisficing – taken from a quick google search.

One is “to decide on and pursue a course of action that will satisfy the minimum requirements necessary to achieve a particular goal.” Another is “to aim to achieve only satisfactory results because the satisfactory position is familiar, hassle-free, and secure, whereas whereas aiming for the best-achievable result would call for costs, effort, and incurring of risks.”

And one more: “Satisficing is a decision-making strategy that entails searching through the available alternatives until an acceptability threshold is met.”

I like this last one the best (from Wikipedia)- but not that much. Which do you like best and what does this say of you? More next week.

QUESTIONS
by Sophia Yasmeen

    Does the morning dew really learn of it's demise from the Sun light? Does the cold rain of winter really destroy the grace of autumnal sunshine?
    How can it be when the drop, the wave, the foam, the whirlpool...
    All are aspects of the same ocean;
    Even a sad song is not so sad...when it comforts the lonely heart;
    The boast of 'I' and 'mine' is no more than an illusion.

Sophia is a beautiful writer and I am happily sharing her work in my Feelbetter Newsletter.

best wishes
Andrew
