Looking beyond the end of our Nose
February 27, 2017

Looking is both a conscious and unconscious activity – you can be focusing on something or somebody but have peripheral awareness that can impact on you consciously if what is happening at your periphery is something that you then have to deal with.

But the more aroused we are – whether it is anxious or excited arousal – then the less we will be aware of what is at the end of our nose.

And that is why the first task of any Human Givens therapist is to find ways to reduce the arousal levels of our clients. And that goes for all of us. For however calm we believe we are as we are living our day to day life, there is so much more to see beyond the end of our nose.

by Sophia Yasmeen

Whenever I see natural open spaces, my heart slows down with a sense of awe and oneness. I wonder what it that touches my heart so deeply is. Some feel overwhelmed by the vastness and emptiness, like my own mother who cannot bear any kind of silence or stand alone with her own thoughts; she is happy when there is constant noise of life’s little dramas. Me on the other hand am just naturally drawn to open spaces, be it a plain land, desert, mountain view, countryside, farmland, forests, wilderness, woodlands or green belt. Even if it is an image of a pleasing view of nature on my face book news feed, I stop and feel it… a time that is beyond time, a space that is beyond space. I embrace the stillness and say to myself “Do I dare, disturb the universe”? All my thoughts and hope come to a hold, having only faith and love in my heart I wait……

As T S Elliot said “I said to my soul, be still and wait without hope, for hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love, for love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith, but the faith and the love are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.”

Open your heart my beloveds cause hearts are meant to be open, so that our soul can reflect the beautiful universe.

Sophia is a beautiful writer and I am happily sharing her work in my Feelbetter Newsletter.
