I distribute cheerfully
May 15, 2017

The headline of this week’s newsletter happens to be the motto of my alma mater – George Heriots School in Edinburgh. I was talking about mottos with my daughter and I am delighted to say that I had full recall of mine. Which I suppose will be true for many of us.

I do remember puzzling over it as it never appeared to be as worthy or as meaningful as others. But I think I understand it much better now. All our exchanges can be ones that give or take and cheerfulness is a great gift that will spread light wherever it appears.

The more I pursue my spiritual aspirations, the more I recognise that my refuge is in nothing but non-attachment. It is a natural state. It is not even a state, as it is natural. This moment is 'like this' I don't need to concentrate on anything in particular and have a string of thoughts...but just pay soft attention. I have a good sense of listening. This receptivity I developed over the years, not to find anything, win anything, get anything or control anything but just an act of faith and trust. Whatever arise and ceases in this moment. It is the most gorgeous simplicity in life. Have the right view and understanding my beloveds... don't hold a view about anything and swim in the ocean of unconditioned love and light...

Sophia is a beautiful writer and I am happily sharing her work in my Feelbetter Newsletter.

best wishes
